There has been an increasing nostalgia for the horror 1980s, as evidenced by the Netflix series "Stranger Things" and films like "It" being set in the time period and films such as "The Babysitter" and “Happy Death Day” obviously being inspired by the era.
The 1980s were an interesting decade for the horror genre. Scary movies became more graphic, violent, bloody and sexually explicit, and yet, there was a tongue-in-cheek tone to many of the horror films of the decade. The look of the genre was an extension of what came before it.
