CONWAY — “Eddie and Dave,” a gender-bending look at the rise and fall of rock band Van Halen, brings a blast of rock ‘n’ roll bravado to the Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse in North Conway.

M&D Playhouse’s production, which opened Thursday with performances Thursday through Sunday for the next two weeks, marks the New England debut of the play by Amy Staats, which flips the genders of all the characters.

Alec Kerr, entertainment critic for The Conway Daily Sun is joined by Mackenzie Hester as Eddie Van Halen, Chelsea Hupalowsky as David Lee Roth and Frank Thompson as Valerie Bertinelli from M&D Playhouse's production of "Eddie and Dave," a gender-bending play about hubris, friendship, family, fame, musical genius and Van Halen. Performances are Thursday through Sunday Jan. 18-Jan. 28. Tickets are available at mdplayhouse.com or by calling (603) 733-5275.
