CONWAY — M&D Playhouse’s latest production, “The Elephant Man,” Bernard Pomerance’s telling of the true story of the horribly deformed 19th century man Joseph “John” Merrick, is full of compassion but doesn’t shy away from the exploitative nature of many of Merrick’s relationships.
“The Elephant Man,” which opened Thursday, April 11, at the Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse in North Conway and will be performed Thursday through Sunday for the next two weeks, is not related to the 1980 David Lynch film of the same name.
