CONWAY — Mike Sakash, jazz expert and performer, presents his popular jazz history course, focused this summer on “The Big Bands.” Sessions meet at Mountain Top Music’s Majestic Café in Conway village on Tuesdays, June 20 to Aug. 15, from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. The café will open at 4:45 p.m., serving wine and beer.
The course will trace the development of large jazz ensembles, the “Big Bands,” from the early days of swing to the present. Each class will explore the leaders, notable soloists and the distinct styles of each band, through guided listening, live demonstration and lively discussion. No music experience is necessary to participate, learn, and enjoy the course. No homework either.
