JACKSON — After a rough turn of events concerning its two primary lifts that occurred within two hours of one another during a busy Sunday at Black Mountain, one of the two lifts — the Summit Double — was repaired and back in operation as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, while work continues to repair the East Bowl Triple, according to ski area officials.
In a letter to skiers Tuesday, Black Mountain General Manager/owner Erik Mogensen said: “In less than 48 hours, we diagnosed, removed, transported, rebuilt and reinstalled the primary drive motor for the Summit Double. As of 11:30 a.m. today, we are loading the public on the lift for top-to-bottom skiing and riding. While the lift was down, we spent extra time grooming and ensuring the surface conditions were as good as possible. The skiing and riding are fantastic."
