I didn’t have a lot of faith in a Willy Wonka prequel. It seemed like just another shameless milking of a familiar intellectual property. Then I saw the director attached to the “Wonka” project: Paul King.
King is the director and co-writer of the two “Paddington” movies, which are among the most delightful, charming and whimsical movies I’ve seen in recent years. As Nick Cage said in the “Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” “‘Paddington 2’ is incredible.”
