CONWAY — Out of 42 weeks in the school calendar, just 15 feature a full week — five consecutive days — of classes. This is something the Conway School Board would like to see changed.
“This is a topic that needs to be addressed,” board member Randy Davison said at Monday night’s meeting in the Professional Development Center at the SAU 9 office. “It’s a topic that came up at the SAU 9 Board meeting (on July 9). The amount of full weeks of school is important in education. The more consistency you have is important. So, having just 15 full weeks of school is not, from my perspective, and from what we heard at the (SAU 9 Board). This is a major discussion. It’s not right.”
