Sunday is the 96th Academy Awards. I’ve spent many hours arguing how the academy gets it “wrong” with who they nominate and award, but cheer when they get it “right.”

Of course, all of this is subjective, so there is no true right or wrong, and part of the fun of Oscars, or any award ceremony, is the discussion and the debate. That being said, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' voting body, composed of more than 10,500 global film industry artists and leaders, do often seem to be out of step with the general public.
