“I’ve been thinking a lot about the ‘Barbie’ movie” is a sentence I never thought I’d write. Then again, I never expected to see Barbie having an existential crisis in a pop art social satire.
“Barbie” is a bona fide cultural phenomenon that spawned dozens of memes before it was even released, and, in less than two weeks of release, has already made more than $800 million worldwide. For context, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” made $845 million worldwide in its total theatrical run.
