Memo to the Academy

With the nominations for the 90th Academy Awards to be announced in the coming weeks, the time is right to discuss the films that should get nominations but probably won’t make the final cut.

Each year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honors what they consider the best films of the year. Typically, the academy spotlights serious-minded or artsy films which are often outside of the radar of the average moviegoer.
