CONWAY — After a busy summer of workouts, hours spent in the weight room and a solid preseason, optimism is high around the Kennett High football team this fall. The Eagles hope to factor in the Division II playoffs this season.

“I like this year’s team,” said Scott Stearns, a 1994 KHS graduate and member of three state championship teams, who earned All-State honors as a junior and senior as an interior lineman and is entering his fifth year as head coach. “It might be the second best team I’ve had since I’ve been here (in 2022, the Eagles went 7-3 and secured the No. 5 seed in the playoffs). We could have the best (offensive and defensive) lines we’ve had in that time.”
