CONWAY — The Kennett High ice hockey team got its season off on the right note with a 6-3 win on the road against Laconia-Winnisquam at the Merrill-Fay Arena in Laconia on Wednesday night. The puck didn’t bounce the Eagles way on Saturday when they dropped their home-opener 5-4 at the Ham Ice Arena to Alvirne-Milford, a Division II team. Kennett played from behind all evening, battling back from a 3-0 deficit in the second period.

“We just dug ourselves too big of a hole early on,” said Michael Lane, Eagles’ head coach. “It’s early in the season and we’re still putting in a lot of things and it was such a short preseason (KHS lost three days of practice to bad weather), it’s not an excuse, but being pretty young, we’re just learning on the fly. It’s too bad because the points were certainly there for the taking.”
