9-16-2023 North Country Angling-Green trout madness: Part II

An evening of smallmouth bass fishing brings variety to the trout angler’s repertoire. (STEVE ANGERS PHOTO)

The Great Canadian canoe was placed in the water. This craft has seen many fishing adventures and served well. The hope was to add to the canoe’s long record of success. We hopped on board and began the paddle to smallmouth cove.

The pond looked smooth when we first arrived, so we opted to leave the anchor in the Frontier. Less weight to carry. As we paddled out into the main body of the pond, a southerly wind picked up and produced a riffle on the water. Being in the stern seat it would be my job to keep the Great Canadian in position until sunset when the winds would die down and the canoe would stay in position on its own.
