Motorcyclist killed in Friday crash was to be wed Saturday

OSSIPEE — Police on Monday released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash last Friday morning in Ossipee on Route 25. The man, from Porter, Maine, was to be married last Saturday, according to his obituary.

Ossipee Police Chief James Sullivan said Jeffrey Sterling, 27, was westbound on Route 25 past Constitution Park at about 6:15 Friday morning. Witnesses said he was traveling at high speed and moving in and out of traffic before striking the rear of a Jeep SUV.

Sterling died at the scene.

The other driver was transported to the hospital for observation and released without injuries.

Sterling’s obituary was posted to mainefuneral.com.

“Jeffrey Paul “JP” Sterling, 27, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 18, 2026, just one day before he was set to marry the love of his life, Brianna Horton,” said the obituary, adding she was the “love of his life” since high school.

There is GoFundMe to help the Sterling family and Horton. It was set up by Emily Giallongo, wife of Sterling’s best friend, Dane Giallongo.

“During this incredibly difficult time, this fundraiser will help the Sterling family with bills, funeral costs, and any other support they may need as they grieve,” she said.

”The family is also asking for the time and space to mourn privately while feeling the love and care of friends and family around them. Any donation, no matter the size, will help ease some of the burden they are carrying right now.”

She also said, “He was the kind of person who lit up every room, with the biggest heart and a willingness to help anyone who needed him. His loss was completely unexpected, and the pain of it is being felt by everyone who knew and loved him.”
