Throughout its history, northern New Hampshire built railroads to get people and products to places they wanted or needed to go. Some were logging railroads, traveling high into the mountains to bring harvested trees to waiting mills.

Freight trains transported products grown or made there to market and brought back needed supplies to the North Country. Passenger trains carried people from far-off cities to northern New Hampshire to enjoy its four-season beauty, recreation and relaxation.
