JACKSON — A petitioned warrant article that would have limited fireworks to just the Jackson Village District was defeated by voters 92-49 at annual town meeting last Thursday. The discussion about the article dominated the March 12 meeting.

Proponents of Article 15 sought to prohibit commercially licensed firework events on town-owned or private property outside of the Village District. It would have meant that properties such as Black Mountain Ski Area could not have legally held a fireworks display, as Black did for New Year’s Eve and on its 90th anniversary celebration last May 3.
