Mysterious objects in the woods always pique my interest. Whether I’m hiking, skiing, snowshoeing or biking, I stop and wonder: What is that, how did it get here, who put it there, what does it mean? There are stories in those finds.

This week’s focus is a find on a relatively new Eastside mountain bike trail — “Jack.” It was authorized by the Conway Conservation Commission, and designed and built by John Barley as a White Mountain New England Mountain Bike Association trail last year.
