The weather has been phenomenal, but the seasons are changing. The winds of change roared through the area on Monday and Tuesday, dumping leaves, pine needles, pine cones and tree branches all over the place. The sounds of leaf blowers were heard across the valley on Tuesday and Wednesday. Everyone should be so lucky to have an enthusiastic 21-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog to help with stick pickup, which quickly turns into a game of fetch.
Fall golf is now in full swing. While you can’t put a tracking device on your ball, you have to be even more attentive because of the leaves and pine needles, which will keep our course superintendents and their staff plenty busy over the final few weeks of the 2026 season. If you see these folks, give them a tip of the cap and a thank you for their tireless efforts this spring, summer and now heading down the stretch. They’re the unsung heroes of this sport.
