To the editor:

Following President Donald Trump’s flooding of D.C. with federal troops and law enforcement, Mayor Muriel Bowser (surprise, surprise) called the move an “authoritarian push.” She exhorted residents “to protect our city.” (Yes, in reality, another veiled call by a Democrat to attack and obstruct law enforcement.)

Great job pointing out the many idiotic lies parroted once again by Jim Pietrangelo guest and Mike. As guest correctly points out, the only goal of putting troops in the streets is to get both citizens and troops to get used to the president using them however he pleases so he can restrict democracy whenever he wishes.

As idiotic as Jim's parroted lies are, can anyone tell me what planet JW lives on? He seems to be in a fantasy world just like Trump.

1995? Really, 30 years ago, you have to go back that far, things change in 30 years, try focusing all the things we have happening now. I have a feeling your memory is a little fuzzy. You were saving all the people on the streets of DC single handed. What a hero! Did you get a medal? Do some research find out about crime rates now, not then. And blaming the mayor who wasn’t even mayor then is ridiculous.

The ideologies of imbesiles create nothing but chaos. What they call freedom, is pure lunacy.

America needs to rebuild the great institutions it once had. Beautiful park like facilities where homeless and mentally challanged alike can live in peace. Its much less cruel than having them clog our streets. These institutions provided safe haven for those in need, while creating safe nieghborhoods and cities. The institutions had activities for their residents, like furniture building, farming both livestock and agricultural, amongst other things. The great institutions where self contained cities needing nothing from the outside world. The grew there own food, generated their own electricity, and steam. These places were truly remarkable in their hayday, and they should all be rebuilt and filled. What imbesile thought it would be a good idea to house would be residents or not in our little bucolic towns. Shear lunacy !

Bottom line is some people want us dependant on government so they can control us like cattle. They create the chaos to intentionally drive us into there insanity. They hate the fact that those of us who favor organization are fighting back. I pray we never stop fighting back.

God bless America !

God bless President Donald Trump !

Save New Hampshire !!!

Live Free or Die !!!

Military in our cities has nothing to do with crime.

The reason for troops is get us all to accept them in our streets like a third world country. Trump is fearful of Republicans losing the mid-terms. Why would he worry if everyone is so happy with their agenda? The troops will then be easily used, after he makes up some “emergency’, to interfere in people going to vote.

If they wanted less crime in DC they wouldn’t have defunded the DC police. When they froze the federal budget, they also froze the DC budget, to the tune of $1.1Billion. They don’t usually do that as the citizens of DC pay tax dollars to the city, called local money. The senate realized the error and passed a bill to release the funds to the city. The House ignored it. Much of that money was going to crime prevention, more police, etc.

The national guard is costing over $1 million a day. They are doing mostly landscaping and hanging around. Why landscaping? There were 200 federal employees that took care of our capitals thousands of acres of parks. They were masons, plumbers, landscapers etc. Doge cut all but 20 of them. That’s why the guard members are landscaping. Would have been cheaper to keep the original 200 don’t you think? Troops with guns walking the streets have caused a drop in people going to restaurants and shopping.

8 of the top 10 states in homicide rates are led by Republicans.

Based on 2024 FBI statistics, cities located in Republican-led states include some of the highest crime rates in the country, even surpassing the District of Columbia in many categories.

In 2022, California sent approximately $83.1 billion more to the federal government than it received back in services, while Texas received $71.1 billion more than it sent.

Democratic states account for about 71 percent of America’s GDP, whereas Red states only produce 29 percent of our income and wealth.

Republican states are generally poorer, less educated, and sicker than the citizens of Democratic states.

Meanwhile the economy is tanking, we have no allies, unless you consider Russia our ally, we’re certainly theirs. Prices are going up. We’re losing our liberty.

So you’re absolutely right, we’ll be so much better off under an authoritarian government. Wake up, do some research on your own, stop parroting the lies you hear on Fox. By the way I am not a Democrat. I want my country to still have a democracy next year. This isn’t about red or blue, this is the future of our country, the future you seem to want doesn’t look good to me.

Your claim that Donald Trump’s deployment of federal law enforcement in Washington, D.C. was simply about “protecting the city” misstates the facts. In June 2020, Trump flooded D.C. with federal officers to confront peaceful Black Lives Matter protesters, not to fight crime. Tear gas and rubber bullets were used against nonviolent demonstrators so Trump could stage a photo-op at St. John’s Church. That was why Mayor Muriel Bowser called it an “authoritarian push.” She was right.

The charge that Bowser “failed to protect D.C. from crime” ignores reality. Violent crime in D.C. has fluctuated for decades, but by 2012–2019 homicides had dropped by more than 50 percent compared with the 1990s, thanks to local policing strategies and community programs. Federal intervention did not drive that progress.

The narrative about “anti-white racism” in D.C. is unsubstantiated and rooted in racial grievance politics, not evidence. Crime is not a partisan monopoly; red-led states like Louisiana and Mississippi consistently report higher violent crime rates than D.C. or California.

Authoritarianism is not defined by disorder in the streets, but by presidents using state violence to suppress dissent. Trump’s actions fit that definition. Bowser’s defense of civil liberties did not.

I'm waving the BS Flag on you, Mike.

First of all, the BLM protests in DC were anything but peaceful. If you recall, they were storming the gates of the White House, throwing bricks, frozen water bottles, and other objects. They were pointing lasers into the eyes of LEOs. They were vandalizing storefronts and setting fires. In what world is this "peaceful"?

As for anti-white racism, do you realize that the home of the Black Panthers is the Petworth section of DC? I suggest you visit that neighborhood the next time you're in our nation's capital. Read the graffiti on the buildings and posters on the lampposts. Listen to the voices yelling "Whitey" or "Cracker" at you as you walk around. Feel the resentment due to the gentrification of what used to be the domain of middle-class blacks.

How do I know these things? I'm in DC at least 3 times a year and was there in the aftermath of the BLM protests. I have been in the "underserved" neighborhoods of DC. I saw the destruction left behind by the "mostly peaceful" protestors that the Media completely ignored. I have witnessed lawlessness regularly in these neighborhoods. Do you know that DC has become the stolen car capital of our country?

I suggest you leave the bubble of the MWV and actually visit the outer neighborhoods of DC.

mikerins

MEPD, you are so pathetic. The stolen car capital of the world? Not even close, but you never let the facts get in your way. Also, as Mike and guest pointed out, the flimsy excuse used to put troops in the streets was violent crime. While carjacking is a violent crime, it's not part of the stolen car statistics, which are not a violent crime.

Anti-White racism bothers you? How about the much more common anti-Black, anti-Hispanic, or anti-immigrant? Does that bother you?

By the way, I assumed Mike was talking about the peaceful demonstrators near the church that Trump had attacked so he could have a photo-op with a Bible, which he claims he reads. You believe all his other lies, so I assume you buy that BS too.

If you're so upset about the things you claim the BLM protestors did, you must be really upset at the far worse (than even your claims) things the Jan. 6th insurrectionists did, and you must be furious Trump pardoned all of them. Right?
