moose heather

The Sun's Heather Baillargeon shared this photo of a moose close to Route 26 just south of Dixville Notch, (COURTESY PHOTO)

Just off the exit ramp at Tripoli Road in the foothills of the White Mountains on Interstate 93 last June, a moose was seen wandering toward a hillside along the banks of the Pemigewasset River.

It was a rare sighting for the south side of the notch as over the past decade, the number of moose has been on the decline.
