CONWAY — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation says it is confident the second half of the Main Street Project can move forward despite the fact that the only construction bid it received — from Alvin J. Coleman and Son Inc. in Albany — came in much higher than anticipated.

Construction was to start this spring on the last part of the Main Street project, which will involve traffic improvements from the Four Corners to the intersection of Route 16 and 113 near the library.
