Harold Nelson Sanborn, 67, of Fryeburg, Maine, died unexpectedly Jan. 22, 2005, at his home. Born June 3, 1937, in Portland, Maine, the son of Arnold and Shirley (Curran) Sanborn, Harold graduated from Porter Academy andGorham State Teachers College.He taught one year in Waterbury, Conn., and taught 34 years as an industrial arts teacher at Fryeburg Academy.Harold was a member of the Maine Retired Teachers Association and the National Education Association.He was a life member of the Fryeburg Fish and Game and was active with the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine.Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, working with his dogs and puttering around the house, and was very caring towards others.Surviving family include his wife, Blanche (Woods) Sanborn, of Fryeburg; two sons, Gregory Sanborn and wife Deborah of Sidney, Maine, and Timothy Sanborn of Fryeburg; one sister, Anne Marie Barton, and husband Arthur of Denmark, Maine; and one grandson, David Sanborn.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Denmark Congregational Church, with Rev. John Fillmore Patrick officiating.A spring burial will take place in Berry Cemetery, Denmark, Maine.Donations may be made in memory of Harold to the Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, Bridgton Road, Fryeburg, Maine, 04037.Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
