North Country Angling - trout season

New Hampshire is the only New England state with a closed trout season. (STEVE ANGERS PHOTO)

Musings and observations while pondering why New Hampshire is the only New England state that closes their trout fishing season.

The thought process in Concord is that wild trout need non-pressure time during the spawning season. Understandable. Except that rainbow trout spawn in the spring. And Fish and Game stocks hatchery fish over the wild fish that were spawned in the fall. The hatchery fish then eat the wild trout fry.
