The Rufus Porter Museum of Art & Ingenuity has acquired a stunning and significant set of original wall murals painted by Rufus Porter in the late 1820s to early 1830s.

The story of these murals’ survival is remarkable. Two weeks ago, RPM purchased these rare panels from Chris McMahon of Old House Salvage in Exeter, N.H. Eight years ago, McMahon rescued the painted walls from an 1804 house in Woburn, Mass., just before the home was destroyed. The walls had been in storage since, and now they are finally home at RPM.
