CONWAY — The 13th annual Cupcake Battle, to benefit Mount Washington Valley Promotions, was held on February 16 at the North Conway Community Center. Eleven bakers competed in 3 categories for cash prizes at the wintery event. The Sugarmaker Bakery’s Beth Carta-Dolan, of Glen, edged out last year’swinner, Melissa Bedient, taking top prize in the Professional Baker group in a close contest. The winning flavor was a light lemon peach cardamom cupcake with brown sugar whipped cream, homemade peach. topping, and honey.
"It's always fun to try to come up with a new flavor," Carta Dolan said. “I'm happy they were a hit. I love how excited everyone is about their creations and sharing them with the other bakers and the tasting public.”
