JACKSON — The Jackson Art Studio & Gallery will be offering news classes for all ages this season.
“Fall is the iconic season for transition, dramatic beauty and change," said Melanie Levitt, owner of Jackson Art Studio & Gallery. "As we cool down, we want you to come in and enjoy some different ways to express yourself. Let Fall be your muse."
Starting Tuesday, Oct. 22, through Nov. 5, Scott Collard will be teaching drawing. Drawing is not only a life long skill, but it’s a fundamental ability all artists need, regardless of their area of concentration. And, drawing is also fun.
Collard is a seasoned design illustrator, educator and artist. He will offer each student individual coaching to address whatever challenges are presented. You don’t have to be an “artist” to take this class. All skill levels are welcome. “Let’s Sketch with Scott Collard” is open to adults and high school students.
Beginning on Monday, Oct. 21, through Nov. 18, Mabel Albert is offering “Characters & Comics for Kids!” from 3:45 to 5 p.m. for ages 7 through 13. There will be no class on Nov. 11. By the end of this class, each student will take home their own comic book that they created, complete with pictures and text.
During this four week class, students will see demonstrations by the instructor. Together they will explore creating character traits, personalities, expressions and gestures unique to the comic book characters they create. Please note, Bartlett and Jackson students can take the bus to the studio, but will need to arrange with the school and let the studio know in advance.
Have you ever looked at an abstract painting and wondered, “How did the artist create this? Where does this come from?” A one-day course, titled, "Introduction to Abstract Painting: Brushwork and Color" with Rebecca Klementovitch will be given on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During the course, participants will learn how to create a successful abstract painting using acrylics that reflects your emotional inner landscape. Students will be exposed to color theory, innovative mark-making techniques, composition, choosing successful color combinations and along with work by other abstract artists including those who adhere to color field painting and collage techniques.
Jackson Art is also continuing to book Sip and Paint parties for businesses, wedding groups, birthdays and holiday parties. Choose from over 75 paintings. Jackson Art will also teach painted wine glasses parties.
New for 2020, Jackson Art will be offering winter art and wellness retreats starting in Janurary combining snow shoeing, beginner landscape painting, yoga and wine tasting.
Jackson Art is located at 155 Ridge Road, one mile north of Jackson Village, off Route 16.
