TAMWORTH — The Barnstormers Theatre continues its 93rd season with an often hilarious production of the classic macabre farce “Arsenic and Old Lace,” which opened Thursday with daily performances — except Monday — through July 22.

The play, written by Joseph Kesselring and first produced in 1941, focuses on the eccentric Brewster family. Theater critic Mortimer (Jordan Ahnquist) is the normal one of the crew, but he must contend with a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt (Dale Place) and his Aunt Martha (Vinette Cotter) and Aunt Abby (Jean Mar Brown), who he discovers have developed a habit of “mercy” killing lonely old men with poisoned elderberry wine.
