CONWAY — “Parasite Drag,” M&D Playhouse’s latest production that opened last Thursday, is a tragic tale of a dysfunctional family dealing with a painful past and how it affects the present.

The play, which has nightly performances through Sunday at the Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse in North Conway, centers on estranged brothers, Gene (Eric Jordan) and Ronnie (Zach Poster). They are forced to come together to make arrangements for their sister, a homeless drug addict who is dying of AIDS. What follows is an exploration of such weighty topics as addiction, abuse, depression and faith.
