Clark Gregg

Clark Gregg stars as Phil Coulson, a character first introduced in "Iron Man," in "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (ABC/John Fleenor)

Like a lot of character actors, Clark Gregg isn't a household name but you'll know his face. He is best-known to TV viewers as Agent Phil Coulson on ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," which aired its midseason finale Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Coulson started as a small background character but grew to become Gregg's defining role. Gregg is also a writer and director having most recently written, directed and starred in "Trust Me." He also played Julia Louis-Dreyfus' ex-husband Richard in the CBS sitcom "The New Adventures of Old Christine" from 2008-2010.
