Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is the fifth film in the "Jurassic Park" franchise. (COURTESY OF UNIVERSAL)

How much you enjoy “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” the fifth film in the “Jurassic Park” franchise and the second “Jurassic World” film — a sort of series within a series — is entirely based on expectations.

If you’re hoping for another film like Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic first installment, you’ll be disappointed. That film was lightning in a bottle. Attempting to re-create it is a fool’s errand. “Fallen Kingdom” is dumb, predictable and often down right goofy, but it also beautifully shot and alternatingly scary, funny and thrilling.
