“Ant-Man and the Wasp,” the sequel to 2015’s “Ant-Man” and the 20th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a breezy action-comedy in which the stakes are refreshingly personal.

In “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which takes place concurrently with “Avengers: Infinity War,” but doesn’t acknowledge that film until the credits, isn’t about saving the world or facing off against a supervillain. Instead, it is about rescuing the original Ant-Man Hank Pym’s (Michael Douglas) wife Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) from the micro universe known as the Quantum Realm, where she’s been dropped for the last 30 years.
