FRYEBURG — The 1982 and ’83 Class C State Championship baseball teams were inducted into the Fryeburg Academy Hall of Excellence in 2021. A number of the Hall of Famers were on hand on Saturday to see the current Raiders equal their accomplishment by beating Cony 4-3 to win the Class B State Championship (see related story).

In 1982 and 1983, Fryeburg Academy’s baseball team captured consecutive Western Maine Class C titles. The ‘82 title was the first in the school’s history and the ‘83 title has yet to be repeated. This “rags to riches” story created memories and friendships that still hold strong today.
