The 2023 growing season has presented ongoing challenges, from late frost and subsequent weeks of arid, windy weather, to life as we now know it — endless rain. Much of the garden is lackluster, struggling to thrive.

Broccoli is another bright light, a crop that many years is in itself a challenge, prone to bolting in typical August dog days. Not this summer, however.
