ALBANY — Plans for two major construction projects on Route 16 were presented to about 50 people by state Department of Transportation officials Wednesday night at Town Hall.

The 29597 project, covering 3.2 miles from Pine Knoll Road to Cream Brook north of Tanglewood Motel & Cottages, aims to improve safety and road conditions with a $20.5 million budget. Construction is targeted to begin in 2029 or 2030, if possible, and is expected to take about four years. An intersection project at Nickerson Road could start a bit later.
