HANOVER — If ever a game was closer than the final score might indicate, that was the case on Thursday when the Kennett High field hockey team traveled to Hanover for the preliminary round of the Division II playoffs. The Eagles dominated play for large stretches of the first half but came out on the short end of a 6-0 scoreline at Merriam-Branch Memorial Field.

“That really was the story; the girls played really well,” Ella Chandler, Eagles’ head coach, said. “I think not having a deep bench caught up with us in the second half.”
