CONWAY — When the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association set the Division II field hockey schedule this summer, Kennett High playerss and fans immediately circled Tuesday, Sept. 24 on their calendars. The hope was that both KHS and Derryfield Academy would both be undefeated when the schools met and that this might be a playoff preview.
Both schools are indeed undefeated and figure to learn just how well they stack up against each other when the Eagles (6-0) travel to Manchester on Tuesday (4:30 p.m.) to tangle with the Cougars (7-0). It’s a matchup between the No. 1 offense in the state — Derryfield (outscored its opponents 40-3 in seven games) — against the No. 1 defense in the state — Kennett (outscored its opponents 19-0 with six shutouts and has allowed just six shots all season).
