MOUNT WASHINGTON — Subaru Motorsports Team USA star driver Scott Speed more than lived up to his last name Sunday, roaring up the 7.6-mile Mt. Washington Auto Road in the Paul Giblin Memorial “Climb to the Clouds” automobile race.

The aptly named Speed, 43, drove an ultra-fast Subaru WRX “Project Midnight” to the summit in the second run of the race in a historic new record time of 5 minutes, 11.89 seconds to crush Travis Pastrana’s previous record set the last time the race was held in 2021 by 16.78 seconds.
