CONWAY — It wasn’t the finish the Kennett High girls’ basketball team had hoped for, but what a ride the Eagles took the community on this winter. KHS ran into a stingy Hanover squad in the Division II State Championship game at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester on Friday night. The Marauders outscored Kennett 36-18 in the paint to win their first championship since 2008, winning 52-41.
“Points in the paint and second chance points (18-7 Hanover advantage) were definitely the difference,” said Larry Meader, Eagles’ head coach. “(Hanover) did a great job on the offensive boards (a 19-12 Marauder advantage).”
