CONWAY — The Kennett High boys’ basketball team got its season off on a winning note at the Peter Ames Gymnasium against visiting Coe-Brown Northwood Academy on Friday but it wasn’t easy. The Eagles jumped out to a 39-19 lead at halftime only to see the visiting Bears go on a 20-2 run in the third period to pull within a basket. KHS responded well to the threat, closing the quarter on a 13-3 run en route to a 68-59 victory.
The win lifted Kennett to 1-0, while Coe-Brown fell to 0-1 in Division II on what was opening night around the Granite State in the league.
