CONWAY — The Kennett High School Athletic Department held its annual Winter Sports Awards on March 14 in the Loynd Auditorium, and there was plenty to smile about. It as quite a winter for the Eagles.
“It was truly a spectacular year,” said Kennett Athletic Director Neal Weaver, who served as the master of ceremonies and made athletes, parents and friends feel right at home. Weaver pointed to a table up front that displayed the winter bounty the hometown flock brought home to the nest this winter. The KHS boys and girls repeated at Division II cross-country champs; the girls’ alpine team won the Division II title for the sixth year; the boys’ alpine team won the Division II crown by more than 100 points; the KHS ski jumpers repeated at Division II champions; the hockey team reached the Division III finals; the girls’ basketball team made it to the Elite 8; and the boys’ basketball team made the Division II playoffs.
