CONWAY — No one likes to lose, but Kennett High Boys’ Basketball Coach Jack Loynd believes a 56-54 loss at home to arch-rival Kingswood on Feb. 5 may have been the best thing to happen to his team. Since that setback, the Eagles have rattled off five wins in a row, including getting a measure of revenge against the Knights in Wolfeboro on Wednesday with a 79-40 rout.

“If there’s such a thing as a good loss, that was probably it,” Loynd said. “Basically, it was a wakeup call for us to return to fundamentals. We went back into the gym the next day, practiced fundamentals and since then we’ve been playing great defense. These guys were up to the challenge of playing better defensively.”
