FRYEBURG, Maine — Work is in full swing on Fryeburg Academy’s new synthetic turf field complete with lighting for night games. The multi-purpose field, which will be named after the late John H. Atwood — a former FA teacher, coach, administrator and respected community member — should be ready for the Raiders when fall sports begin.
“We’re really excited about it,” Fryeburg Academy Athletic Director John Gordon said. “I can remember as a kid going to games on the weekend. The most amazing thing is that generations of athletes have played on that field. Hopefully, the next generations of Raiders will enjoy this state-of-the-art facility.”
