Monday was the day, the window of opportunity I’d been looking for to ski the trails at Purity Spring Resort XC and Snowshoe Reserve. The weather was mild, the trails had just been groomed and I had the time.

King Pine is a little over 10 miles from my house, but I seldom head that far south on Route 153. I should more often, to experience uphill skiing possibilities at King Pine and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and fat tire biking at Purity. I could even throw in some ice skating at the Tohko Dome with their “Ski and Skate” Trails pass. It’s only $15 (plus a small transaction fee of 45 cents) for any age. It gives you access to cross-country trails and snowshoe trails, the ice skating rink and uphill skiing. You can easily make a day of it, sampling all the amenities.
