Local high school Nordic ski teams have been gearing up for their 2025 season for almost a month. Early December snowfall helped them get on snow a little ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, later rain and melt events compromised their skiing terrain. Early-season meets are being relocated to snowier venues or canceled. Nordic coaches have to make the best of it and get creative.

Questionnaires were sent to our high school Nordic coaches to see how their teams are developing. One was to John Weston, Fryeburg Academy’s coach, and the other to Scott Lajoie, Kennett High’s coach. Both responded promptly and gave lots of information about their teams and expectations for the 2025 season.
