KEARSARGE — Residents of the Kearsarge Lighting Precinct questioned Thursday how much they are paying in legal fees for multiple lawsuits at the precinct’s budget hearing last Thursday. Meanwhile, a rumor is circulating that a neighborhood may try to secede from the KLP.
The KLP covers parts of Bartlett and North Conway. In addition to street lighting, it has zoning responsibilities. Commissioners and the treasurer presented a proposed 2026 budget of nearly $96,000, including $60,000 for legal fees tied to several state and federal lawsuits.
