There is a city in India is called Pondicherry, which is affectionately known by the locals as Pondy. Back in New Hampshire, Pondicherry National Wildlife in Jefferson is affectionately known by many as Cherry Pond. After all, this is New England, and we don't want to get too casual. But Cherry Pond is a great place for a casual day outdoors, reveling in the wonders of nature. Last week, I returned there with my friend and hiking buddy artist Bob Gordon of Conway. We hadn't been in a few years, and it was high time to return.

We hoped to repeat an amazing morning we experienced there about a decade ago, but knew that it would be pure luck if we did, even if we returned at about the same time in May.
