Even though I live close to the Kancamagus Highway and Bear Notch Road, I seldom head out there on a bike or car this time of year. Fall foliage fools are crowding the roads and parking lots and driving way too fast. Why venture out into that mayhem?

Despite avoiding the Kanc area lately, I’ve been thinking about it. Envisioning fall gravel rides down Rob Brook Road or through Bartlett Experimental Forest dirt roads, I watch the weather and traffic, waiting for the bulk of leaf peepers to go home. After Indigenous People's Day weekend, my husband and I ventured out to check it out for a locals’ fall tour.
