Last Wednesday, local students participated in a nationwide walkout pushing for gun legislation and school safety. The walkout was to commemorate the one-month anniversary of the mass shooting of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Kennett High senior Fiona Davis-Walsh said Wednesday, “We stand here on this chilly day to ask for our schools to be safe again. Growing up in this generation, we have been surrounded by school shootings all of our lives, almost to the point where it may feel normal, but going to school should not be a risk to your life.”
