The government shutdown that began Oct. 1 centers on a dispute over whether to extend the Obamacare subsidies known as premium tax credits, which are scheduled to expire Dec. 31. The credits, expanded under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, reduce health insurance costs for millions of Americans. Republicans want the extended subsidies to lapse and revert back to the level when Obamacare was first passed. The Democrats want the extended subsidies to continue. Without an agreement to continue them, many enrollees could face sharp premium increases next year.

This week’s TeleTalk question: Do you support extending the Obamacare tax subsidies?
