To the editor:Not too long ago, this country laid to rest our former president Ronald Reagan. I heard people lamenting and saying how much this country lost and I must say I agree. We lost integrity. I dont know how many millions of dollars were spent to give this man a funeral, but I find it disgusting the absolute waste. This man wrote out a 300-page tome to illuminate how he wished to ride off into the sunset Hollywood style. Whatever plans there are for my funeral will be paid by me I dont expect the American tax dollars to pay for an extravagant, pretentious send off for me like it was for our former president. If that is what Reagan wanted, then he should have paid for it. His trickle down economics made his rich pals richer while hurting the little people by taking away programs to help the needy. It seems even in death, he wants to continue his failed policies. All those millions could have fed many a needy person, but instead it went to waste. As the saying goes, evil happens when good men say nothing. Well, this good man is no longer saying nothing. If this is the type of good for nothing policies that our elected officials approve, then they are not only failing to do their job, but abusing their position. Were their constituents consulted before this money was spent? Of course not. It is about time that these politicians listened to those they represent and, more importantly, those who are represented to stop sitting back and saying nothing.
